Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps patients become more aware of their thoughts and emotions, and how such thoughts and emotions may prolong depressive symptoms by combining elements of cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction.1 MBCT aims to help patients reduce rumination on negative thoughts and increase their mindfulness and self-compassion.1 This type of therapy is structured and typically follows an 8-week course.2
